About Caleesi Designs

We're in the business of making unique and fabulous jewelry
for a city full of unique and fabulous people.
Caleesi Designs Jewelers has been a life-long dream come true for me. After two years of planning and searching for the perfect location, my partner in life and now in business, Cathy Miller and I opened Caleesi in February 2016.

My career in the jewelry industry began in high school working in Manhattan's jewelry district in the late 70's. One of my best friend's family was in the jewelry business in Manhattan and asked if I would like to try out as an apprentice. I always had been into music and the arts and soon found myself loving the art of creating and designing jewelry. I had the privilege of learning from, and working with, some of the most well known jewelry craftsmen in the city.
Having my own space to share my art and vision with the Austin community has been a desire of mine for many years. I'm always learning and developing new techniques and ideas. Our new store allows me to finally showcase these ideas with you.
Cathy and I have always been turned off by snooty or pushy sales people and strive to make our store quite the opposite. Our new store exudes that Austin casual vibe.  Caleesi is not your typical traditional jewelry store. Our desire was to have a very relaxed, laid back South Lamar vibe. A space where you could feel comfortable, not intimidated, and not pressured.
I've seen a lot of what makes for a great customer experience  in the jewelry industry. Our mission is to provide our customers with the best customer service possible!

We feel we've accomplished this with Caleesi Designs Jewelers.

Meet The Team

Stephan Werbeck
Co-Owner and Jewelry Designer

Steve has been in the jewelry trade for over thirty years. He began his career as an apprentice in New York's jewelry district. He's always loved the arts. At the age of nine he began playing piano and guitar. He still plays guitar and loves the live music scene Austin has to offer. He took to the art of making jewelry immediately and soon realized he loved doing this work. He was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to learn and study alongside some of the most admired artisans in the New York jewelry trade. Back in the 80's, he was recruited to Austin to teach jewelry making and design. He's lived and worked in the Austin jewelry industry ever since.

Cathy Miller
Co-Owner and Business Manager

Cathy runs the business side of Caleesi Designs while also working in home design and real estate investments. As a jewelry enthusiast, she is thrilled to be a part of Caleesi Designs. "As a business operator, giving customers the best experience possible is our goal and Caleesi strives to exceed your expectations in jewelry design, selection and service”.

When she is not working on spreadsheets or design, she loves to play tennis and hang with Steve and Shadow in beautiful Austin.

Claire Avery
CAD Designer and Sales Associate

Claire has always had a love for the arts. She loves working with her hands, making jewelry and painting. Claire graduated summa cum laude from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a bachelor's degree in jewelry. She has been in the industry for five years and is Caleesi's on site CAD designer. She also does the jewelry photography, blog, marketing, and sales.

Claire joined the Caleesi team in September 2016 upon moving to Austin from her hometown in Chapel Hill, NC.

Shadow the Dog
Official Store Greeter

Shadow may only be a part time member of the Caleesi team, but he loves to come to work. You'll find him sitting in front of the door waiting to greet our happy customers or in the back keeping the Caleesi team on task--the task of belly rubbing, that is. You may also see him doing some of his other favorite things; on a long walk or chewing a bone.

But beware . . . he may love you to death (unless you're of the cat or squirrel species). Shadow got his start in the jewelry field by chance and has loved every minute of it!
